I mean I see them as panfish. I for sure would not want them posted in the rough fish carp section. I mean they are good anyway you can cook fish grilled sautéed stained baked fried lol. Add to that they are an absolutely beautiful Fish.

Lol well that one was released to the grease for sure lol. With a nice fat baked potato it made dinner for two was able to cut the fillets into threes on each side. I had two that day that were almost twins they were protecting beds and hit a 5/8 oz lvr lipless crank. I am still working on a more consistent fly to Target them with a flyrod.

Does anyone know where I could target these guys within a decent drive of the DFW area? I've never caught one before but would love to give it a try.

Would love to find a place to target them too , I love Tilapia its so versatile for cooking . I recently made a stuffed Tilapia dish after having it at a restaurant it was so good I will have to post the recipe on the forum. I would love to see more Tilapia catches or its own thread .

They are a warm water fish and only survive in warm climates. eeks If you have any power plant lakes in your area good chance there may be some Tilapia there. hmmm Power Plant Lakes,Warm spring fed rivers, and rivers, lakes where they is no very cold winters are good places to find them. We have a lot of Tilapia in the San Antonio area. The Comal River in New Braunfels is loaded with em. So are the Southwest area rivers. thumb

Side Note: You may want to try Decker. That lake is in your area and is a power plant lake. coolio

Austin710 I caught that one about 30 minutes from Fort Worth on squaw Creek there are some real bruisers in there and when they are bedded up the beds are unmistakable and there will be thousands of them over a large expansive flat. If you see a sandy bottom that looks like you just landed on the moon with huge craters everywhere you're in the right spot. Also Fairfield lake down by Richland Chambers is loaded with them as well
