I got my mother interested in fishing and we want to get some catfish to fry. I would be interested in finding some areas that are constant producers of catfish. I'm not interested in anything under 12" or places where catching the limit will decimate the population.

I don't mind paying to fish and I don't want to drive too far away from Dallas.

There used to be/is a catfish farm on US 175 in Crandall. Went there once more than a decade ago and caught plenty of fish for the skillet. Not a whole lot of skill involved in fishing there but it was fun. Not sure what it is called or the exact address, but I assume Google has those answers.

Unless someone has reopened it, the catfish farm has been closed for awhile now. Some friends and I used to take our kids and older family members there back in the day. It was a great place to go if you wanted to be sure that everyone was almost guaranteed to catch fish. Sometimes you would get so caught up in catching that you would forget that what you caught was weighted and then you paid by the pound. But it was fun for the family.

I was told by another member of the Forum about a catfish farm as well. I didn't get the name but he made it seem like it was open. I will google catfish farms and see if anything shows up. Thanks guys, now to find a place they don't charge by the pound! :P

Lawson rd. About half way between I-20 and us-80 there is a catfish farm! It's across the street from the Devils bowl speedway, I have seen it but never fished there.

It's all fun and games till someone has a fish on!

Ok, I explained it to her that there were fish farms in the area and she wasn't too keen on paying by the pound. I went to a fish farm before and they didn't allow you to return any fish once you hooked them and landed them. So if was you catch them you buy them rules. I wouldn't be to enthusiastic if I caught 2 or 3 fish and I was paying $20 or $30 dollars for them and then just leave!

I'll just make a new post and expand the search to all of Dallas and see what lakes/ponds/rivers have them. I'm willing to make the drive if it's around the city of Dallas. Not willing if I have to travel 2 or 3 hours away.

Google "catfish stocked ponds in Texas". That'll give you more than enough information
