Caught this crappie yesterday morning. Looks like it is a bite and not a fungus. Nice fish, just this spot. Has anyone seen this any where?

Roy, I'd lay even money that's a wound gone bad. The fungus we see often is likely where the slime has been removed from rubbing against something. That is more likely a gar bite or even a fin-hook that got loose. Just guessing. Doesn't Berryville have a Marine Biologist on staff? LOL!!

Showed pic to a local....His comment was that Comrants bit this crappie. He has seen several like this on the lake. How bout that for a local biologist.....

I think that is a cormorant strike. An exceptionally gnarly cormorant strike.
