I'm a long ways off from this but I'm just curious. I was at the dealer yesterday and asked about it. The guy behind the counter shot off $700. That seems a little over the top for an hour of shop time and a few parts. Anyone had one done and what did it cost you?

Bob, The 300 hour service is more than an hour worth of labor. You are servicing the l/u inc. water pump, changing fuel filters and spark plugs, checking thermostats, running computer diagnostic to see if any fault codes have happened and lubing motor. I would have to check with my service dept. for cost but that doesn't seem too far fetched.

That sounds a little high to me. I don't have an e tech, but have had a few V Max and Mercs. My 300 hour on the VMax 4 stroke was $400 and some change. They ran and printed the diagnostics, services lower unit, change oil and filters, replaced water pump impeller, replace spark plugs and changed all fuel filters and some other random things. The e tech may be more, I'm not for sure, but it sounds high.

I'll definitely be shopping around when it comes time for it. Austin is probably the most expensive place in Texas to live and the marine industry is not immune to that. Everyone here thinks there is not a shopping world outside the city limits and their prices on everything reflect that. Everything here goes for full retail. I've saved hundreds of $$$ rigging my boat by shopping on the Internet. The dealers here want $50 a gal for XD-100 oil and I buy it online for $37 a gallon delivered to my door. I have to buy a case, but I use it so I can buy it now or buy it later, no big deal. There are even places around Clear Lake that will sell it for $34 if you bring your own jug so that shows what these guys are doing on mark-up.
