been looking at the skiff series of boats and the DLV in a 19 foot realy peaks my intrest. i want to get away from the flat bottom design, rides to rough and always getting splashed ! just want to use it for inshore fishing and freshwater lakes, i'm not into that shallow pole pushing stuff. if you have any experience with skiff's please share your thoughts.

oh my, that was unexpected. i've always good comments about the skiffs. perhaps some owners will chime in on the topic and we'll get some hands on advise.

I would disregard Capt. Andrew unless he actually has experience with them other than if you don't pay an arm and a leg for something it cant be good philosophy.

We have had 2, a 1993 19-foot flat bottom bought it new sold it this year, the boat has been flawless other than a wet rough ride. Have two other family member that own them, they bought them because how happy we have been with ours, one is a twin to our old one other is a 21-foot dlv both have been equaly happy and no issues. We recently sold our 19-foot and bought a 24-foot dlx, its 10 times the boat the old one was.

They are cheap because they are relatively no frills boats, not because they are poorly made. The DLV is a much drier smoother boat than the DLX's, that said the with the added length of the 24-footer we have yet to get wet in our new flat bottom DLX and we put it through some reasonably rough stuff already.

I guided out of a 24' CS for over 10 years - great boat, you can go skinny or go deep ... it IS a "Fishing Machine" !!!

that's a little more in line with what i had expected to hear, i made a recent trip to the florida gulf coast & that is a very popular boat sitting at the docks, probably owned by guides, anyway i also did a search on the forums here & found some old post's with good reviews. thanks for the input. if there is any other good or bad news on em please post it.
