Thinking of going Monday. Haven't been there in a year so I figured it was about time to try her again.

Anyone know if the south ramp is usable? I haven't been on the lake in some time, but I believe the south shore main ramp is closed and the little ramp on the back side at south shores is only usable when the lake is full/near full. I don't thing there is an open ramp at south shores.

I would say no, unless the lake came up over the 20' low mark.

South ramp is closed. Calliham, Mason, and 99 river are open. Use Mason at risk. River is fine.

Sorry to report that I did not go. High winds, no reports, and low water leaves too much to chance for a 3 hour drive.

Fished a small club tournament at Choke last weekend. 10+ lbs won. 2 - 3+ lbers were big fish. caught quite a few fish just hard to get keepers. even had a co-angler catch 2 on topwater. Main points seemed best for our anglers. water temp was 77-82 degrees. lake down about 3 more feet since last rise. Hydrilla near Mason Point. clairity about 6"

Typical media over hype!
They made it sound like south Texas was going to be washed off the map and all the lakes are still pretty much where they were before the "big rain event!" I got less than 3" and listening to the forecasters on local TV we survived another great flood of the century.
Just one more cast!

Yup, Choke went up around 4" maybe and Lake CC might go up around 1.5', but almost all of that is water from rains near Carrizo Springs a couple weeks ago, not the rains from last weekend. Another round or rain is coming this weekend and the ground should at least be saturated, so maybe the Frio watershed will get a good dousing of 6-8" over the whole area.

I'm being told Choke is good for numbers. 30-60 fish a day, but keepers are hard to come by and you will occasionally stick 1 solid fish. A friend of mine caught a 9 out of there 2 weekends ago but he said its the first fish over 5lbs he has caught in his last 5 trips.
