Wow, what a dummy I am! I am not talking about Lake Cheyenne! I meant Lake Cherokee! My apologies!
(It is NE of Henderson, Texas. It is NW of Martin Creek.)

I am not sure exactly what you think is different than many lakes in the state. For instance I live on Lake Graham it is just like Lake Cherokee in that it is private and by that I mean the City of Graham own the land and lots. They own the water rights and a power plant pays a fee to use the water for plant cooling. This is pretty much a normal deal I would say. Just because it says privately owned does not mean it cannot be used by the public. A lake in East Texas that I would call much more private is Lake Echo at Athens Texas. Johnny

The difference between Lake Graham and Lake Cherokee is that Cherokee is only accessible to the 1500 share holders, the Cherokee Water Company, and their guests. I just called them; it is a private lake. It even has its own Lake Patrol. Unlike Lake Graham, you will not find Lake Cherokee on the TPWD website.

Yep, Graham is a municipal owned lake that is open to the public. Cherokee is private. No access unless a property owner takes you.

Then it is like Lake Echo at Athens. There are actually several lakes around the country like that. Pretty common in Louisiana. It may not be listed on TPWD but I bet the state actually owns the water.

Same with Lake Kiowa. They even have a boat quarantine for the residents.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
