Went up there last weekend. Pretty lake with lots of campsites. Did some bass fishing Saturday evening and Sunday morning and managed only one smallmouth, which was cool because it was my first smallie.
Then headed out to deeper water to search for schools. And we wacked em. Found a roaming school of sandies hovering right at the 30 foot depth in about 65-70 foot of water. The fish were staying tight to that 28-30 foot depth----it was really interesting to see that line of fish on the screen. Ended up catching and releasing about 60-70 fish or so. It was a lot of fun.
That lake has a lot of points; I could not recall driving anywhere on the lake without seeing some kind of point. Also, it has some tremendous depth changes. You could graph probably any given point and drop from 10 to 70 feet in a length of boat two. I have also never seen as many rocks and massive boulders lining the shoreline and various places on the bottom. They came through very clear on the graph. Also probably what contributes to the clear water.
Speaking of the clear water, you can definitely see the bottom within a reasonable distance of the shoreline; but as you get to 7-9+ foot of water, we were not able to see the bottom. The clear, shallow areas actually made for a weird visual illusion for me because I have never been on a clear water lake. I've only ever seen maybe 3-4 feet down on our north Texas lakes. But when you're floating along the shoreline in 4-8 feet, you can clearly see stumps, grass, etc. that will kind of scare you at first. It makes it feel like you're sitting lower in the boat or something. Very interesting water, for sure.

Nice lake, I have seen it, but never been on it. Sounds like you had them dialed in.

fished that lake a lot in the 60's , 70's , 80's then it went downhill when all the houseboats showed up. I know every inch of it very well. If you were in 60-70 ft of water you were on the south end. Big rocks on the shore. Over 100 ft in front of tuckers tower. The north end is different, shallower. The canal divides the east and west areas. North of elephant rock it changes pretty much. The east side is better in my opinion as there are fewer people because they don't know how to get there and the fishing is better.

I've fished that lake a lot back in 2012. I've caught quite a few limits of smallmouth bass and some nice cats and walleyes as well. Never got a limit of sandbass but would catch a few. I quit going once I found out Texoma was full of big smallmouth, then I discovered stripers... The lake is super clear. It's a very scenic lake caught quite a few smallmouth limits Once I started catching these at Texoma I quit going
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.
