I have heard, an 86 year old gentleman with a valid Louisiana fishing license weighed in a fish at a tourney (Sealy) on Fork. He was disqualified and fined $275.00 for not having a Texas fishing license. Anybody know anything about this? I'm 65 and a resident of Louisiana. I don't have a problem buying a Texas non-resident if I need to, but I've been told, and the TP&W website says I'm good. Am i?

If you were born before Jan1, 193 and are a Texas resident, you are exempt from buying a fishing license.

Fork is not on the state line between Texas and Louisiana. Only lakes partly in Texas and partly in Louisiana accept Louisiana licenses. Toledo Bend is on the boundary, and a Louisiana license is valid there. Read the web page again by clicking here. The 1931 rule does not apply to non-residents.

At 86 they should have given him a prize just for showing up.
