I have a question that is a 2 part question.

Will the transducer for the HB 899 work on a 1199?
Also, what is needed to link the two together so that they can share waypoints?

I currently have a 899 and just ordered a 1199 and was wondering if I could just use the same cords that are in place on the console and move the 899 up front to the TM?
Thanks

Yes the same transducer you currently have should work.
To link the 2 together you just need a ethernet cable that will reach both units. But check first and make sure both head units have a ethernet port...If they both have the Ethernet port you should be able to get a ethernet cable at bps, cabelas etc..

The standard SI transducer that comes with the 899 is the Compact SI XNT 9 SI 180 T.

The standard SI transducer that comes with the 1199 is the HDSI
XHS 9 HDSI 180 T.

"work"?, YES, BUT the HDSI transducer is longer, has longer SI crystals, which produce a thinner SI pulse and sharper images.

The 899 would perform better with the HDSI and the 1199's images would be degraded with the Compact SI.

A lot of 899 purchasers have exchanged the included Compact SI transducer when received for the HDSI so the unit will have sharper images. Did you do that?

Ethernet is the only communication connection those units can use.
That takes an Ethernet adapter for each one AS EC QDE, and an Ethernet cable long enough to connect them. The AS EC 20E is the 20' version, there are other lengths.

The power cord is the same.

On that note, what would be the best way to mount the units? All I know is I want one up front and one at the steering wheel. I'm kind of depending on the experts on the best way to do it. IN other words, would it be better to order an additional XHS 9 HDSI 180 T. for the trolling motor? Any advice would do.

Yes the HDSI is the best choice, it will give you sharper images and has extra internal shielding to help with possible RFI from the trolling motor.
The trolling motor version is XTM 9 HDSI 180 T and comes with a somewhat weak TM adpater and hose clamps.
The transducer itself is the exact same one as the transom version, just different mount.

The Compact SI is not, especially the transom version.

As far as the display, you want something rugged at the bow that can withstand shock from waves/wakes. Either just use the gimbal mount or one of the bridge mounts if you have a recessed foot pedal tray.
Some like an adjustable mount at the bow, that is where the weakness comes in. The wind blows in Texas.

HDSI with a Transducer Shield and Saver mount:

I strongly recommend the TM mount from Transducer Shield & Saver. They aren't cheap, but neither are those big SI transducers when you start ripping them off on stumps and submerged trees.
