Hey everyone, I'm a new boat own. I have a 1998 Fisher Fx 21 Tournament with a Mercury 225efi. I have actually owned it for about 4 months now. But I'm going to change out the oil in the lower end unit sometime here in a few weeks. My question is what type of oil does it take brand and viscosity?

If there is anything else I need to know please do tell and if you just want to give any helpful general advice about owning a boat it would be much appreciated!

Thanks

If you don't have the service records on the motor, change the impeller while you're at it. Than's cheap insurance.

Any quality name brand hi-viscosity lower unit gear oil will work. Most guys will use the brand relative to the motor manufacture. Yours would be Quick Silver. I am converting most of my customers to Mystic JT-7 90 wt gear oil.

Mercury High Performance Gear Lube. Get two bottles as it will use a little over one.
