Any one know of ponds in the Cedar hill, Duncanville or Lancaster area to catch small bluegills for bait. Thanks in advance.

Are you going to fish for them or just throw a net over them?

Go to the lake and catch em! I've seen way too many people like you come and dry up a good fishing hole for everyone kids included.it's selfish and stupid.

If you plan on catching them without a net there are plenty of local parks. The one off of Joe Wilson that's beside the school has a ton of bluegill right under the bridge.

Be sure and check local restrictions. Some parks are for catch and release only.

That's my opinion, like I said if everyone started hitting these ponds up ,where are people supposed to go fishing for bluegill with their Kids? I hate when people single handedly destroy everyone's fun for a couple nights of fishing when the lake in which you're fishing has millions of bluegill... that's about the most backwards thing I've seen.

I agree that most public parks that allow fishing should have restrictions in place to NOT allow the removal of any fish. Most of the ponds that I fish are in fact that way. I do know some that are not. I would head to the closest lake or biggest body of water to catch and remove any fish. This way the population will not take a huge hit if I remove 20-30 sunfish. You take that many out of a local pond and it will take years for it to fully recover depending upon the size. Also you could hurt the other fish population like Bass and Catfish. If they don't have food to eat, they will die off.

The key is balance. Taking a few won't hurt anything, taking 20% will.

Nets are not legal in community lakes.

Creeks or big lake is ok, but ponds in town... throw nets are not legal.

I know throw nets are not legal because I read the book. Also how easy would it be to net all the fish in a pond where they are used to being fed?

That won't stop someone from doing it.
