Howdy y'all!
I am a refugee from New York, and I just moved to Arlington. I fell in love with Texas before I set a foot on Her soil. The only thing I love more then God, my family and the Dallas Cowboys is fishing. My specialty is Northern Pike, Muskie, and Sea Bass from Lake Ontario and the Atlantic Ocean. I live near Lake Viridian, and I have not had the opportunity to begin fishing here. I do not have my boat down here yet, so I'll be fishing from shore for about a year. Where can I fish around here, and what can I expect to catch in these lakes?

Go to the Trinity River
for bank fishing

I think the Lake at Viridian dried up

Lake Arlington, not so good for bank fishing & they blocked the path down to Village Creek under I-20

pretty bogus, not sure why they did that

Lake Arlington is not too good for bank fishing. There's Joe Pool. It had some areas for bank fishing and quite a few fish the creek running towards 360.

Large mouth, sand bass, crappie, catfish.

Lake Viridian will have a lot of big gar and rough fish in it. Lots of bass and cats too. Viridian lake is mostly old gravel pits and landfills that were dredged for flood control so there is no telling what the pollution is in there. Land fills to the north and west are still active so the rain water is still percolating down into the lake. With the Trinity flooding into the lake this spring it probably got a lot of new fish introduced. I would not want to eat anything out of there. Also this lake is probably private to the Viridian residents and there is no boat access as far as I know. I live about 2 miles from there and as a kid I used to fish those old gravel pits back in the 60's. Caught many a crappie down there but that was before the landfills and trash dump era.

Your best bet by far is Joe Pool Lake. Check out the Lynn Creek and LLoyd Park areas. Joe Pool has a wide variety of fish -- No Northern Pike, Muskie, or Sea Bass though.
