I do a lot of fishing at Calaveras.. Trying to check out Canyon lake.. Looking for Stipers or Hybrids. Any tips on getting started on that big lake?

First light around the big hump just up stream from the dam, once the jet ski hords get moving your best shot is down rigged trolling along the dam. In my experiences there that lake just has too much boat & jet ski traffic. You'll get something good under way and multiple fools will run right past you on plane - sun up to sun down.

Actually caught a 25" striper today at canyon. In the cranes mills area. Deep water but it hammered a silver spoon. Looking forward to cooler weather for them! Gunna start doing my research and learn the patterns. I'd upload the pic but it's not working.. I'll figure it out.
