I agree but to skip under a dock? I use a spinning rig. It has it's place on my front deck.

I have a couple of nice spinning outfits, for deep drop shooting i think they are a must, also very handy skipping weightless baits under docks. Hardly ever use one for shaky head.

I have a Falcon Original Medium Light 6'6" spinning rod that is my favorite. It is rated for 1/8 oz. up to about 3/8 oz. as I recall. I have a Falcon Lowrider Medium that is rated for 1/4 to 1/2 oz.. It is fine for a Texas rigged worm or small jigs, but a bit too stiff for a drop shot in my opinion. You need to pay close attention to the lure weight rating and get a rod that is rated for 1/8 oz. for the best results. It actually is a good general purpose rod. I endorse what others have said about Pflueger President reels. They are relatively light weight and hold up well. Back to the rod, I find that a 6.6' rod handles better than longer rods, but that is just me. Hope this helps.
