You need to read the laws governing navigable water ways laws. This is a state law and cannot be superseded. Someone need to get a lawyer involved with this if they get a ticket.

Community ponds are not navigable waterways.

This is true. The thing that bothers me is ponds are a huge help in people gaining a comfort level in canoes kayaks and sup...mabey other small human powered craft. It forces them out on lake lewisville or lavon mabey even hubbard and we all have seen how safe that can be with motor boat traffic etc. Just sounds counter productive

yes, and no Jerry. The definition of what Texas thinks as navigable water is very flexible in the law. A dry creekbed or river is considered navigable under Texas law in certain situations. wink Depending on the water supply to the pond/lake will decide what is considered navigable. shocked

It doesn't say anything at twin lakes park in Dallas about boating. I checked the sign then read the penal code number listed. Then I put in and caught some catfish!

I'm still going to yak it there. I've never had a problem as I respectful and park away from everything. Until I'm told by a police or game warden, I'm going to fish there.

I had no clue that you could put in the kayak at Twin Lakes. I might have to do that sometime just to get to some of the area's that are harder to fish from the bank.

Like Cliff said, the pond by Legacy Bank is not a city park. Therefore, city ordinances don't apply.
