What kind of success have you had on red soft plastics aside from crawdad imitations? I tend to stock up with greens, browns, and occasionally black or junebug colors, but never seem to have the desire to pick up a bag of red shad or red bug worms, stick baits, or grubs.
Do you catch them on red plastics?
How do you feel they stack up with other colors overall?

I've caught more fish on red shad power worms than any other power bait for sure. More than blue flek which I use a lot more than red shad.

I also have some 6 inch stick worms that I get custom made, the 1st 5 inches is blood red and non-transparent, the last inch is solid white, which I usually dip in chart spike it. I fish it on the bottom on a stand up rig, it's one of my go to's because I can always manage a bite on it.

Aside from that - I really prefer that most of my swim baits have some red on them somewhere. If they don't I'll use a red paint marker and put gills or red lines on them. I'm not going to say it for sure gets more bites, but it gives me more confidence in them.

Since I posted about color, I've always wondered why a natural earthworm color isn't one that the major manufacturers don't emulate. That brownish-pinkish color of a canadian nightcrawler. I know plastic worms are not supposed to imitate an earthworm so much, but wouldn't you think it would be a color scheme that might work? Or has it been tried in the past and flopped? Just spitballin'

I like the red-purplish colors in the fall
I really like the Mister Twister stick baits and craws in Red River Special color--it's a black/purple/red with blue fleck
Red bug by Grandebass is another good one in their rattlesnakes and snake'o

I've caught countless numbers of bass on red (strawberry) silver flake worms over the years (especially 4" curly tails). It was a mainstay for me for years but I probably haven't tied one on it at least 4 years. Tomato was a favorite of mine on Richland Chambers. Red Shad has always been good too.

Red shad has caught me a lot of fish. A lot.

Caught a ton of fish over the years on red shad green flake 7.5" culprit worm. Probably more on that color than all other colors combined. Whatever you do be very careful if you ever decide to throw a red bug zoom ol monster out on a ledge in Toledo Bend. You could hurt your arms after a couple hours on the right spot.

really,,,, you think something that actually imitates a food source in color would catch fish ???
Try the Berkley Natural Earthworm, or the oxblood color in various brands, even the Morning Dawn color is close to a natural color.

try a 4inch Morning dawn colored senko on a drop shot rig,,,,,u might like it

Strawberry can be dynamite on highland lakes, its a forgotten old school color.
