Hello TFF,
I am relatively new to the Houston Area (and wade fishing for that matter) and was looking to find a few spots in the Surfside/San Luis Pass area for wade fishing in the bay. I've gone several times to fish the surf around Surfside with mixed results and was looking to branch out into the bay areas around Christmas bay. If you guys could provide some recommendations as to where to park and which spots to hit I would greatly appreciate it. Feel free to include any other tips you may find relevant for a new wade fisherman.
Thank you

back towards San Luis Pass are a few trails that lead to drum bay. pretty good wading there if you can stay out of the mud.

Im an oil field engineer lookong for work so my schedule is wide open. Also ive been told san luis pass (slp) is dangerous so ive been lookong to go out with aomeone for safety. Lemme know if youre interested.

So you been catching big shark on the Surfside jetties? Planning on going this weekend to the jetties wondering what kind of bait you had to use? Hoping to run across some reds out there!

There should be some bull reds starting to run in the pass and beachfront near the pass and surfside jetties both. Cut mullet, live crab, half crab, fresh menhaden, live mullet, live menhaden... use a circle hook, something in the 4/0 to 6/0 range.
As for Christmas and Drum... google earth those roads that lead back into Drum like above. or park at either canal subdivision as wade in. I like the west canal and wade all the way to the oyster between drum and Christmas. Small tops, weedless spoon, or spinnerbait should work fine this time of year. Anything that will catch a bass will catch a redfish.
