Got a beach house rented at Crystal Beach this weekend. Going to see if I can catch some reds in the surf. Anybody have any info that would help. I haven't surf fished in about 20+ yrs. We used to camp on the beach beside Sea Rim state park and do real good there this time of the year.

Use live shrimp! Otherwise, you get a lot of hardheads!

We used to use Gold spoons with the pink plastic teaser on the trailer hook. Will have to look up live shrimp rigs

We did not use the popping corks for shrimp; it will kill them! Just a single hook at bottom with a slip sinker that is heavy enough to hold the bottom. Try to find the cuts so you know the fish have to be running through.
Good luck!

For Bull Reds in the surf, crab with a spider weight to hold it to the bottom. check out Miss Nancy's Bait Camp on Facebook. Their shop is beside Roll Over Pass.
