Fished the Nueces River a few days ago and made a return trip today. This is the first trip posting. I fished from 9am till 3pm and the bite was good. The scenery was great and the water was "CRYSTAL CLEAR" with a good current. Caught a bunch of Longear, some nice healthy bass, several nice Tilapia, and a few small Bluegill rounded out the catch. Caught about 50 fish total. All were released to fight again with the exception of the Tilapia which were released to the grease. Fish were holding close to the banks and by grass beds. Fish were in 2 to 5 feet of water. Worms were the bait of choice and both float and bottom techniques were used. After a day on the Nueces I stopped at the Jack In The Box located in beautiful down town Uvalde for a quick snack before I headed home. A great day fishing in the hills of Texas. It just don't get any better. fish

Thanks Jamie for the reply! cheers I found a Rio spot with plenty of Hybrilla. eeks I don't know if that was the spot the local was telling me about. hmmm I managed a trophy Rio and a bunch of em in the 8" range. I saw some bigger ones but I guess they did not want to play. Will be posting another story on that trip which I completed over the last two days. thumb

Thanks Curtis for the reply. cheers A kayak would be good right now. The river in that part has been full all year due to the good rain. coolio During dry spells I have been told by kayak anglers that you do a lot of walking between pools of water! eeks

Love those crystal clear water pictures. Looks like an awesome place to fish. Nice fish Chuck. Good job as always.

Side Note: Big difference in both water and river scenery in that part. Where we fish the Nueces for white bass the water is usually muddy or stained. Love that river.
