Went to Rayburn Saturday. Went out early. While I rigged my new 10' ft proangler rod and baited it with some new thermocline micros I just got in, the wife pulled in 5, yep 5, good keepers on one of my BP's. And they weren't dinks either. Sheesh! I tried for a while with several different colors and configurations. The Solar lunar chart said it would be good until 7 and sure enough at 7:30 it shut off like a switch was pulled.

So just so I didn't have to listen to the "told you so's" I started using minners. don't judge me too harshly, I'm a mere weak mortal.

We ended up with 14 keepers(nice fish) a few were over 12 inches and one went to 14. We threw back numerous dinks and a whole bunch of lil green ditch pickles.

Nothing wrong with that. I like to catch crappie.....and I really don't care what I catch them on.

No shame in that. Im a jig fishermen by heart but im not above using minnows if it catches crappie.

The pressure was on and the wife weren't cutting me no slack! I'll keep tryin though!

Minnows will work and they will catch crappie, bass & catfish. They sure will turn a slow jig day around.

Very true. Looks like a nice day on the water. A good crappie fisherman always has minnows around in my opinion. Crappie are finicky fish. You never know what they want

I always have minnows onboard! Old school I guess but they help me fill the live well.

AND yet once again the mighty MINNER has prevailed over the lowly fake jig!!! Me likes it!

I still have hopes for more jig fishn but will continue to bring the minners. The "Cook" wont use anything else. I know better than to say she's old school.
