So I've gotten pretty big in to kayak fishing and recently put a Lowrance 4 Elite Hdi on my yak. I fished Aquilla over the summer but dont have much time to fish during the fall. I'm looking for general areas to fish Aquilla for crappie that won't require a long trip away from the ramp. Even a certain direction would help. It's hard for me to find brush because I can't cover as much ground as one with a boat can. Also what is the best time of year for crappie on Aquilla? I found a creek over the summer that looks pretty good for holding some fish.

You don't need a ramp for a kayak. There's 1 area that doesn't have a ramp and is just a park so you can walk over the rail and launch by a bridge for fishing. What roads are you taking to get there?

I know I don't need a ramp but that is where I have been launching from 1947 ramp but I'm willing to drive to which ever place gets me closer to a few good spots. I've walked down to the 1534 dirt ramp also.

If you really want to get in a creek then go down 2415 S to the bridge. It's Aquilla creek and it takes a while to get to the lake but it gets deeper the further you are from the bridge. BTW, a kayak is a boat. wink

Would think you need to be hitting the many brush piles and crappie condos in Aquilla right now.
Believe they have some of the GPS coordinates posted at TPWD mwebsite for Aquilla
