Lone Star Chronicles has been nominated for the Kayak fishing Blog of the Year and we've made it into the second round (of a three-round vote). I don't always post my stories here, posting them instead in the photo section, so while many of the 'old timers' on here know of LSC, there are lots of new 'yak anglers who aren't familiar with our work. I will tell you that we dont exclusively write about kayak fishing. In fact, we write about a variety of outdoors topics, which youd expect from a blog with a tag line like, Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Fish. Despite the variety of our posts, though, LSC has its roots firmly planted in the sport of kayak angling. Its our passion and the source for many of our stories and photography (in fact, we cut our blogging teeth here on TFF Kayak section). If youre a regular to LSC, then hopefully weve struck a chord with you and the blog is worthy of your vote (to vote, click here: www.yakangler.com/choice . If youre not familiar with LSC, then listed below are some of the kayaking related stories weve published over the last 12 months. I provide them to serve as a sampling of our work. In the interest of full disclosure, though, LSC has some pretty stiff competition in the kayak fishing blogashpere: Besides some excellent out-of-state blogs, there are two Texas based blogs, Chris Payne's Kayak Fishing Blog ( http://kayakfishingblog.com/) and Cody Carpenter's Yak Smack ( http://www.yaksmack.com/) which are both excellent blogs covering a variety of topics related to our sport. Chris is one of the best known kayak fishing writers in the country and Cody has done an excellent job with his work reaching out to local high schools teaching the craft of fishing. If you're not going to vote for LSC, I would hope you're at least voting for one of them (I enjoy reading both blogs). Now here are some LSC posts from the last 12 months...I hope you enjoy them: Texas Mike and the Alien Lizards (October 26, 2014): http://lonestarchronicles.com/texas-mike-and-the-alien-lizards/The Search (November 16, 2014): http://lonestarchronicles.com/pecos-river-journal-the-search/Flashback (November 21, 2014): http://lonestarchronicles.com/pecos-river-journal-flashback/The Continental (November 30, 2014): http://lonestarchronicles.com/pecos-river-journal-the-continental/The Graveyard (December 7, 2014): http://lonestarchronicles.com/pecos-river-journal-the-graveyard/Ike and the River Cane (December 18, 2014): http://lonestarchronicles.com/pecos-river-journal-ike-and-the-river-cane/Acceptance (January 11, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/pecos-river-journal-acceptance/The Trucks (April 1, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/pecos-river-journal-the-trucks/Texas Rising (May 30, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/texas-rising/Tree Top Paddling on the Brazos (June 14, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/tree-tops-on-the-brazos/Anatomy of a Flood (June 20, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/anatomy-of-a-flood/Devils River Paddle A Photo Montage (July 23, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/devils-river-paddle-a-photo-montage/An Oasis in August (August 18, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/an-oasis-in-august/Fathers and Sons (September 22, 2015): http://lonestarchronicles.com/fathers-and-sons/

Bert, I always look forward to reading the Lone Star Chronicles. They are all interesting. I hope you come out on top in voting. You certainly got my vote! Everyone who hasn't voted needs to vote! Keep up the good work and keep those stories coming!

Being spread out all over the place I don't post as much as I used to here at TFF and just now saw this. Bert, thanks for the mention. I've enjoyed your adventures (and Dan's too) over the last few years. The Pecos series will forever be etched in my mind. Hopefully we can do a writers workshop or something of the like as an excuse to all get together in the spring on the Brazos.

Thanks, guys. We didn't make it into the third round, but it was fun competing with the big guns. We'll keep the stories coming. Chris...as you know, writing is hard work, so it might be just the two of us for a writers workshop...on the plus side, it leaves more time for fishing.

Maybe we could do a blog/photo/video workshop. That would broaden the horizon a bit. More talk around the campfire about best practices etc and then fishing to practice our craft most of the time. Just spit balling some ideas.

i like it Chris! Kayak Fishing Media Retreat Sounds like a good idea. If you guys are game, I have a fish camp down near Lake Whitney (about 15 mins from the dam) and would be happy to host it. I will take a look at the fall tournament dates and try to find a weekend that doesn't conflict with any of them. If fall doesn't work for you guys, then perhaps next spring? This could be fun...will let you know.

Keep us informed for sure Bert! Sounds like a good idea. Could be tough for me to make as busy as I am these days but if I can make it I would be interested for sure....
