I've noticed that the 1 oz Rat-L-Traps lose their chrome really quickly from the hooks beating against it and too many sharp little teeth. Since they actually do use a good hook on the bigger baits, I hate to chunk the bait at $10 a piece. I have three now that have lost most of their chrome but still have good hooks on them. Is there a chrome paint that's easy to use and won't give off too funky of an odor that will stick?
I typically don't mind losing some paint but these have very little chrome left.
Just wondering if anyone had tried this successfully. I was envisioning one of those paint markers but I remember those smelling awful. The same with spray paint. I don't want to spend too much time on the project if I can help it.
Thanks.

Have you noticed the number of bites decreasing along with the chrome decreasing?

Heck,
I seem to do better on the lures that have some wear and tear on them.

I have tried a few times with chrome spray paint but it leaves something to be desired. I have a ton of chrome traps and go through a bunch over the years. I finally gave up trying. However, one of my favorite and most productive colors is the Letric Silver. It has a similar reflective properties and doesn't chip off.

Jackson, I've tried several different methods, but without success, so I have a small box full of bone Rat-L-Traps. On the other hand, I've caught an awful lot of bass on bone 'Traps. In stained water, I don't think it really makes much difference - as at Yates Place for example.

Yes.... I continue to get bites on them but they are just about bone colored and I'm throwing them in stained water where I really think the chrome should help. But..... The bone may get the same results.
I will check into the Lectric Silver. It looks similar enough and the paint is the only issue I'm having so that may work great.
Thanks for the info guys. I'll go over to the other forum section and see what they say.

I can't believe someone would pay $10 for a rat-l- trap. I thought they were $2-$4 bucks.

I'd try the mirror chrome paint below. Let it dry. Then seal it with Devcon 2 ton epoxy that Mr. Rivera recommended

I believe that they catch fish. Just don't believe that they're $10 a bait.

$9.50 at Bass Pro but you can save a buck if you get them from Tackle Warehouse. You can imagine my surprise to open the packaging and see they are already losing their chrome.
