I took my brother-in-law fishing yesterday morning looking to catch a good mess of Crappie. We were on the water before sunrise around 6:30 am. It was a perfect morning to be on the lake. Temps in the low 70's and winds out of the East around 0-5 mph. We took minnows and jigs but jigs were the preferredf bait. Most fish were caught on a 1/32oz pink jig head with Bobby Garland Baby Shad Blue Ice. Fish were caught on brush in 15 FOW with the fish suspending on top of the brush around 10 FOW. We probably caught around 50 fish altogether for the day with a ton of dinks and 9 inch Crappie. We ended up keeping 14. Below are some pics.

This was the biggest of the day at 14 inches. Wish I would've had a scale

End result of a great day on the water!

Sounds like you guys were right where you needed to be. Plucking crappie vertically out of a brush pile is great fun. And not having to mess with them stinky minnows is a bonus. I love it when a plan comes together!

If it ain't yours don't mess with it!
