We have a 2010 Merc 90, we replace lower gear oil & water pump every year. Is there any routine maintenance I should be doing to the motor?

fuel filter, new spark plugs, clean all battery cables, check water in batteries, check all connections under cowl for tightness and cleanliness, check under cowl for dirt daubers, check prop for line under it, check oil in power tilt/trim, check power steering fluid if you have hydralic steering, grease swivel bracket on motor, grease rams on tilt/trim and probably a few more I can't remember right now. LOL Just give it a good going over and you could save yourself some down time on the water.

#1 preventative routine maintenance is using a good fuel additive like Sea Foam to prevent carbon build up and keeps the fuel good for extended periods of non-use.

Fishing line will get in the prop and get under it and mess up the seal that keeps it water tight. Also under the trolling motor prop. You have to take the prop off and then reinstall and torque back down. Not a big deal but can save a few hundred bucks.
