I need help figuring out what is going on with my Humminbird 898C.
I had it installed several years ago, seemed to work fine, but I do not see fish arches, just some marks on the screen. Side imaging seems to work fine as far as I can tell.
The transducer looks to be horizontal.

Any help is appreciated, all I have is a very expensive water depth meter.

I have read the manual, I should be able to see it unless the transducer is not set horizontal. I played with sensitivity and other settings. Maybe I missed something.

I don't get the "arcs" all the time. Sometimes it is just a partial arc and sometimes a line. It doesn't matter to me. Run it with 3d and di screens both up and you'll soon be able to tell what is a fish by confirming on the di. I have really gotten back to using 2d more than anything when looking for fish because they are so much easier to see than in di or si.

Scroll across the top of the menu...for 'View' I think it is.... then down to Fish ID right arrow and you can change the 'sensitivity' of the Fish ID.....run it over to a much higher number.....or Max...
You should see them then...

No, FishID and its sensitivity setting is in the SONAR main menu.

FishID has nothing to do with arches.

ALL LCR units will display an arch for subjects in the water column if the boat speed and screen scroll speed are set so it can.
It is entirely a result and time and distance of a subject within the sonar pulse.

For a cartoon example of how arches are formed, go to the Lowrance website and watch the sonar tutorial.
