I can understand it as good as yellas are to eat. I say put it in a stock tank for2 or 3
weeks to burn off the fat and then sharpen the knife.

Catching that fish is awesome , eating it is legal. No one is calling the law , just saying a good fisherman can catch plenty of good eater size fish for food. That fish could make another child's dream come true of catching a monster. Plus what if it still has room to grow possibly bigger. Great catch , my hats of to the fisherman who caught it and no hard feelings. Grow some thicker skin!

So... Calling someone names is OK? I have very thick skin .... But, someone calls me "stupid". Skins not that thick....

So I should just buck up and grow a thicker skin because of course the above quote is all about education and sportsmanship. How dare I get "but hurt" as some like to say.

the problem is people like to judge people with very limited information. kids learn nothing from that other than learning the value of how to prematurely disrespect people. That's big NO.

what do you know about the person who caught that fish? what if he donated to his church for a good cause or gave to poor or friends who can't afford to buy fresh fish from the market?
Some people keep big fish for that reason. Does he really deserve this kind of criticism if that's the case? To me he deserves recognition rather. when was last time you did something like that? so, who should be judged now?

My point being, no one should be judged when you know not much about the person. Name calling in public forum is not a form of opinion, it's verbal attack and harassment that can actually hurt people's feeling.

Man, i shook my head when i saw dusty's thread going south, and here we go again...

by the way, did you notice dusty is not posting anymore since then... doesn't that tell you anything how one should behave. please think twice before judging people in public forum.

I was gonna stay off this thread but..You guys need to grow a pair if "mouth breathers" gets you that angry. This is a forum and if having different opinions and some petty 2nd grade level name calling rubs you that raw, then maybe a public forum isn't for you. People keeping big fish can expect to get roasted here, no different than wearing a redskins jersey at the Dallas stadium.

So that's what's wrong in this world, people having strong opinions on what they believe in? That's ridiculous.

That's a cool fish. I'm generally all for releasing the giants as those are the best breeders.

Are big yellows good to eat? I would think smaller, younger fish would be better.

Blue if the only way to express ones opinion is to insult the other person, what does that say about the opinion? Much less the person expressing it.
How does anyone expect to affect change in others opinions by insulting them? Do you really think that is efective?

I joined the catfish forum thinking that this type of drama would not be on here. I mean it's good ole catfishing. Simple stuff, no intense competition no my way is good and moral and yours is evil. No "I am a trophy fisherman and would have let that fish go. How dare you keep and eat My fish!!!" That's all the poo that is seen in the bass fishing world and now it has just about taken over the saltwater world too.

Looks like it has taken over the catfish world also.

I guess there is no place on the internet for people that just want to swap fish reports, techniques and maybe tell a fish story about the big one they caught.
And don't want to be told how wrong they are for doing this way or that way even though it was perfectly legal and moral.

This is likely my last post here, I know I have not posted a lot anyway. But it really did not take long to see that you get insulted here for keeping fish just like you do most everywhere else on the net.

I often wonder how many would say things to persons face that will say on here? Would you be just as derogatory to that fisherman in person? Or would you keep your unwanted opinion to yourself?

Oh well I'm going crabbing later maybe that is one activity you can still do without being told your doing something wrong. Or that you should release the "trophy" crabs they are the breeders you know.

Not many. Its always easier to talk smack anonymously.

Hell yes they are good to eat. Any size. You want to get shot just mess with some old
timer's yella cat trot line on Buchanan. smile

And you don't have to worry about yella cat population. Very few people know how to
catch them.

Strong opinions are fine and often encouraged. However, strong opinion does not mean you can judge other people and make accusation. That can hurt other people's feeling.

Also about public forum, i am thinking exact the opposite. You need to be more precaucious of what you say and how you behave and think twice about it. Because it's not your house where you can yell and scream and do whatever you want. you fart as loud as you want and as often as you want in your living room, but do you do that in public area? Or would you behave differently?
