At least for that lake. I guess a 4.25 to 4.5 lb spot is a good fish from ANY lake, including Lanier, LOL. Fished with Dale McCutchen out of Amarillow on Thursday. Started at first light and finished up about 4:30PM. It was pretty warm, unless you were in the breeze or behind some clouds or both. Caught fish a mutltitude of ways. Big fish came on a black/blue jig with a brush haog trailer. We caught lots 4f fish on topwater (11), several on T-rigs (3) several on jigs (7), several on CBs (2) and none on SB. Dale had 2 spots over 3 lbs each. You can see the big one on my timeline on FB or his timeline on FB. It went 19" long by 13" girth. Caught another good one on topwater, with a top dog. Caught fish throughout the day, but mostly when the breeze got up to it's higher levels. Didn't seem to mind if it was cloudy or not, but if it was in the shade where you casted, get ready to get bit. I caught 2 fish on CBs, both spots, but we had a mixed bag of 4 lmb and the rest spots. But if you are catching 3 and 4 lb spots, WHO CARES!!! Most of the T-rigged fish came on blue fleck worm and LOTS of missed fish, probably 2 small to eat the bait. If you are going out to the lake, take plenty of suncreen and hydration as it is still hot for this time of year. Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Nice report I wish some of those big spots would make it east into our area.

That's close to the lake record for a spot isn't it?

Not really, 5.61 is the lake record spot, I believe. Looked it up on TPWD and it said 5.62 lbs out of Alan Henry caught in 2011. So, that is the official record for the lake and the state.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I went this Thursday (Oct 1st) afternoon and fished from about 2:30 to 7:30 and caught 14. Caught a few nice spots. Definitely the best I have done on AH since the big rise. Caught them on shaky heads, rat-l-trap, and finished off the day with some great Yellow Magic action. Nothing is more fun than topwater action to me.

We had 11 fish the tournament and quite a few had fish. 2 members caught an over, so they had 3 and everyone else just had 2 or 1 fish. Gary Goade threw a white spinnerbait all night and in the daylight and won the T and heavy fish. Heavy fish was 3-2, C.W. Crews was close with a 3-1. Gary had 3 for 6-15 and Mr. Crews had 3 for 6-8. CONGRATS guys and way to go. Looks like the fishing is finally starting to improve a litte bit. My partner caught 8-10 fish on a Reaction Innovation Vixen, swim jig, spinnerbait and black worm. I only caught one on a blue fleck worm. OH, C.W. Crews caught his on a blue fleck worm as well. Thanks to everyone for fishing. Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Went back again today with a buddy and had good numbers again. Nothing of any great size. Biggest maybe 2 and a half today. Was cloudy and overcast all day with a light wind. Great topwater action all day long (we fished from 730 to 3). Yellow Magic came through again for me.
