Was wondering if any of you pitch weightless, if so what are your hook up ratio

My ratio is pretty good actually. About the same as a T-Rig. Maybe my weightless does not count as truly weightless. I use a 4/0 EWG superline hook as the weight 99% of my time I'm weightless plastic fishing. Tornados, rattlesnakes, flukes and ring-frys are my favorite. This 4/0 EWG hook adds just enough weight to make the bait sink slowly. If you are having a low hook-up ratio make sure your line is nice and flat(not coiled or full of "memory")to detect the strikes in the first place. With weightless plastics the fish will generally hold on a long time. Often you will simply see the line move without any tell tale "tap-tap". On hook-sets take up all the slack and use a big sideways sweeping hook set not an overhead hook set.

I'm using a gamakatsu flipping hook, I snell the hook, haven't really had time to play with it

I'm just throwing this out there. I have no idea why you're flipping weightless, I'm sure it could be for many reasons. But if you're doing to because you want a slower fall, you might want to check out the Z Man elaztech plastics. They float like styrofoam. A 3" turbo crawz will easily float a 5/0 heavy wire hook. I love pitching the turbo crawz with a very light weight, 3/16 or 1/8oz usually. Not only does it fall really slow, but it stands straight up on bottom, and when you hop it, it has a very unique action thanks to the buoyancy. Plus one craw will last all day. I have one tied on right now that has caught 31 fish and it still works fine.

I wonder if that would be a pretty good split shot rigging idea, using the elaztech plastic, if you wanted to work just a bit higher off the bottom?

If the plastic is that buoyant, it would allow for all sorts of different applications than the way we'd normally rig things.

I need to try some.

It is killer with a split shot. I use them on my C rigs now too, and I'm definitely getting more bites.

Yes I'm going for a slower fall, I usually have a 1/2oz tungsten on it but wanted to try something different
