Wanted to get the veterans opinion....when super gluing the jig to the jig head, will it not put off an odor that would cause the crappie not to bite?

It didn't seem to bother the 100+ crappie Lane Palmer was able to catch with a single plastic bait he super glued to a jig head. When I was using plastics I used super glue a lot and it did nothing but help me catch more fish would be my guess, since I spent less time pushing the plastic back up the hook shank and more time with the bait in front of fish.

hadnt ever stopped one from hitting my jig...that i know of. however if it helps they do make a fishing glue (i guess the hand tiers use it). the guy at bass pro was pushing it due to scent...his argument was if we buy all these things with a positive scent, why aren't we worried about the negative scents? i had to admit it was a valid question lol

Its my understanding about 1/2 crappie fishermen and most bream fishermen think it does. So never did use it when I did jigs for other folks. I don't think it matters, and even if it did about three dips in the lake it would be gone any way.

A Black Emerald Shiner + Loktite gel super glue + Slab Slobber = ripped lips all day long.

Ronnie, you don't need to glue your jig body any longer. Jigum makes (upon request) a keeper that he pours with his jig heads that works even better than super glue. There was a post a few days ago by another jig maker that is now using the same keeper. Jigum will sell you unpainted jig heads with the keeper or will even paint them for you.
Others, including Fish-n-fool, now make the same jig head (he made me 50 in 1/16 and 1/8th oz) but, he doesn't sell them.
I don't even have any super glue in my boat anymore.

I use glue all the time and it doesn't seem to run the fish off.

Make sure you let the glue dry before you bag them. If glue is still a bit wet and you put them in a zip lock bag you can have some odor problems. We like keepers on jig heads. The DockShooter has a nice J Keeper that eliminates super glue.

I've caught fish directly after gluing, but I now put a drop of Slab Slobber on after gluing just to be sure thumb

I know somebody on here I wish would make jigheads with a keeper on them! I didn't have much luck w superglue but I only tried it a couple jigs. Only downside to plastic is having to readjust the jig after ever fish or hookset, but maybe I set the hook too hard!
