I fished today on Somerville with James and Mary, from LaGrange. A gift certificate from their son Todd last Christmas.
The lake is now at Normal level with the gates closed at the dam. I saw several Crappie caught at Overlook marina while I was cleaning fish. The parks that I know are open are Overlook for camping and launching, Welch, and Yegua. I heard Birch and Nails should be open by November and Rocky Creek will be in the spring.
The day started out beautiful, cool, light winds, then when the cool went away and the wind dropped to zero, it got really hot about 11 am. James managed the most fish while Mary managed the largest at 4 3/4#. All fish were a little above normal in size with lots of 2-3# size.
They ended the morning with 36 nice fish and will be able to have that fish fry they promised their neighbors, LOL.
All fish caught on tight lines, using CJ's Crawdad punch bait, in 8-12 foot water.
