Gonna try and hit it this afternoon. It has been under several feet of water since May. Completely inaccessible. If it is fishable, it should be ABSOLUTELY LOADED with sandies, spots, cats, and hopefully hybrids. Will report the good and or bad news when i get back. HOPEFULLY,FILM AT 11!

Sad to report, the conditions are about 5 6 days away from being perfect, it is fishable, and I did catch ONE fish. It was a freshwater drum in the 3 lb range. Current is still just a skosh from being perfect for walaying sandies and hopefully hybrids. Figure with no more rain, by wed/thurs of next week, it should be as perfect as it gets. Will post pics once i transfer from phone to pc.

Did see one pretty good sized flathead just cruising on the surface in the middle of the turbulence! Looked to be in the 20-30 lb range. Got a very good look at him, but was in the middle of a cast so could not take a pic.

This is what it looked like back in the Spring BEFORE we had our mini monsoon season:

Frazier Dam is downstream from California Crossing and is the last dam on the Elm Fork before it empties into the main Trinity in Irving.

I just spent about 30 minutes scouting for Frazier Dam on Google Maps and didn't see anything. I did find California Crossing then I went towards Lewisville. There was a nice area by the Irving Police Department.

I distinctly mentioned that frazier dam was DOWNSTREAM from California Crossing, and you look UPSTREAM, no wonder you couldn't find it.

No worries, the last legal way to get in has been closed by the Irving Flood Control District. Moving forward, not even the morning joggers on top of the levee will be able to run there anymore. Lots of heavy equipment in there right now. They just can't take the risk that earth movers, back hoes, and graders might be vandalized. They are gonna clamp down according to what we were told last week by a foreman.

BUT, gotta make lemonade! Up stream at California Crossing, below the dam I lost a mammoth Hybrid yesterday, nearly spooled me, then I got him back to the wall of the dam, got the landing net ready, then he headed back for the middle of the river channel as he spit my curly tail grub out! In the vicinity of 8-9 lbs or bigger! Another fisherman that was there told me he had caught 4 hybrids ABOVE the spillway, but were in the 1.5-2 lb range, he released them all. I also caught one 12 inch sandie, and got at least 10-12 strikes, also sandies, but could not get hookset fast enough and they spit it. BUT there are some fish there now.

Rudy.

BTW, big cats being caught on live and cut shad in the mornings. At least one flathead Monday on rod and reel in the 35-40 lb range. I was there in the evening, the guy fishing next to us caught the hybrids and the big cat in the morning.
