Well after yard work Sunday morning. It was time to get ready for the Cowboy game. As I was contemplating what to cook for the family my wife said I'm going shopping at the mall. Well I guess I could sit at home and watch the game by myself or hook up the boat and go fishing. Made a call and picked up a buddy and off we went. Launched at the state park (3:00pm) to calm conditions and figured what great weather, overcast, nice and cool. I guess I should have looked at the weather before because the front moved in and we now had north winds 20-30mph. We sucked it up and headed south toward wolf in 3-4ft swells. Tried to anchor on top of wolf knowing the I-pilot was not going to hold with such big swells but the anchor would not hold either. Made a decision to head towards Sun point as it was a little calmer in that direction. Just as we were about to head that way I spotted a big mess of birds. Went to check em out and found a bunch of 10"-13" hybrids feeding. We stayed on those fish for 30 minutes before deciding to go look for the bigguns. Headed towards Sun point, half way there I noticed another group of birds in open water. This time it was the big fish. We stayed with that school of fish till dark. The stripers were on top feeding and Hybrids were deeper. The wind finally calmed down a bit and we caught fish as every cast. Gotta love the last minute fishing trips that turn out great. Kept a few for the freezer and dinner and released all the other fish.

If ya cut the red meat out they are tasty. It would take 30 crappie to get the same amount of meat as to how many fish are on the cleaning table. Screaming drag from a hybrid is just as addicting as the thump. Just my opinion.

Awesome report. Congratulations! Love it when a good plan turns out the way you hoped.

food

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.
