Well. It's time to upgrade the old electronics on my boat. I am really interested in the Helix 7 series stuff from Humminbird. I'd like the Helix 7 SI/GPS for the console. A Helix 7 Sonar W/ GPS and a Helix 7 DI for the bow. Is the level of detail even close to the higher prices side imaging units out there? The prices seem a little good to be true. Granted, there is no linking of the units. Hence the reason for a front and rear GPS unit. I also like the idea of the dual units up front for a bigger sonar and DI screens. Beats having a 3"'wide image of each from one unit.
I guess what im getting at is.... Are the Helix 7 units decent. I know they are inexpensive. Just don't want to buy them and have buyers remorse after installing them, then have to take a hit selling them to buy some better ones.
Anyone using them? Like them? Wish they were better?

The sonar technologies are the same as the top of the line units, just less features. They are equivelent to the 300, 500, and 600 series in features. The Helix 7 series just has a larger and brighter display.
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3, Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

That's kinda what I am wondering. I have 500 series units now... No side imaging. And they are small. Lol. Hard to see for an older guys eyes. Lol. These have larger, brighter displays. My budget is $2000 max. I have to get seats and carpet too. The boat has been neglected....a little.

No particular "must haves". Convenience features would be sharing GPS data, an extra memory card reader (mapping and recording), and favorite view buttons like the higher end models have.
Larger is good for Side Imaging since the image sizes are based on the SI Range setting instead of the depth.
The Helix 9 series should be out soon. That will have the convenience features.
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3, Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

I was told February of next year. So, I ordered 3 Helix 7's. And added the HD side scan transducer, and a trolling motor adapter. Also added lake master pro. Should have them Thursday. Installing them Thursday and Friday. Hopefully finding more "fish caves" by Saturday.

Thanks I will, but I will have to post back in a few weeks. I probably will not get a chance to try them until I get to Table Rock. I really won't know for sure how good thy are until I get a chance to compare what they show me vs what I know my old graphs show. On my home lake. Looked at the screens at BPS tonight. They look way bigger than 7". Lol. The screen is around 8.5". Viewable is actually 7". The unit overall is really Pretty big. The screen resolution looks nice. Overall they look kinda cheaply made. I guess I'll know more tomorrow.
