I don't really fish a whole lot once a month with my 2 boys. I wanted to know which would you recommend for a Lowrance Elite 5 HDI unit. I talked to customer service at Lowrance they said that the insight would work better with Lowrance units because they sync up better with no issues. To me it seems like the hot maps would be better but wanted to get some expert user opinions on which is better and works seamlessly with what I have.

You did not say what lakes you fish but you can not go wrong with Navionics Platinum South maps. They work very well in that unit and you get updates for one year.

If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life,

there'd be a shortage of fishing poles

I fish mainly Buchanan, Georgetown, Granger, Lake Austin, and LBJ.

Check out the Navionics Webapp and check out all of the mapping available from Navionics on your bodies of water for free before making any purchases. Navionics makes a great product and I believe you cant go wrong with the Platinum chip, but I still think it is best for you to view the products first and see which suites your needs on your bodies of water the best. If you have any Navionics related questions feel free to ask away, I will be glad to help you out.
