The wife and I went out on Fork yday evening after all the Big Bass Splash guys gave us back the lake, about 2 hours before the sun went down. We were throwing some slabs and trying to catch some sandbass just for fun.
We had about 50 crickets left in the cricket box from doing some perch jerking earlier in the day, and I wondered
if sandies would eat crickets. I put one on a drop shot rig with a smaller hook and almost had the pole pulled out of my hand...OMG...catfish love crickets..I lost count. Probably caught about 20 in 45 minutes, one after another, from 6 pounds to about 6 inches. What a blast. They all went back in to fight again. jim
But never a sand bass..LOL

My former father-in-law used to use crickets to catch tons of catfish from the bank at Bob Sandlin. He also caught some nice size perch.

Fished Fork for bluegills in late July (with crickets). We could not keep the catfish off of them long enough to catch any gills.

Yes sir, our bite was too. Drop a cricket (pretty much anywhere) and within 2-5 seconds, have a catfish. This was as fast as we could re-bait and get a cricket back in the water.

Houston, we have channel cats problem... roflmao

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.
