im thinking about buying a used canoe. What all paper work do I need to register it for a trolling motor?

Bill of sale and Manufacturers Statement of Origin with personal identification is what they usually ask for.

If it is used and you cannot get the original factory paperwork, take a pic of the registration plate on the boat with you and depending on whether it has ever been registered before, they will usually let you just sign some declaration forms and proceed with registration.
