I was fishing Possum Kingdom this weekend and marked some fish up a slough that I thought were crappie. I tried to get them to take live shiners but they would not touch them. Finally gave up at dusk and decided to just troll a chartreuse crankbait on my way out and caught a nice crappie right off. A second troll through that area produced a second. After that, nothing

Crappie can be an enigma for me. I'm at a loss for why they would reject live minnows but take a blue back chartreuse bandit 200. Love to hear opinions of this...

Sad crappie fishing results but it did make for a nice meal

Crappie are much like bass..if they're not feeding, they won't eat a shiner. Run a crankbait by them and they will reaction strike to the bait.

Gman

Maybe that's it. Crappie create frustration with their picky finicky ways.
