Never been there but here the fishing is good. Need tips/info on crappie, hybrids, white bass, stripers, walleyes. Taking the kids and just want to show them a good time. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Just want to catch some fish and make some memories.....

I've never been either, but my wife and I are heading up there next weekend for our anniversary. We booked a guide for some Striper fishing. They've got some monsters in that lake, the record is 64lbs!

The reports show a lot of trolling for Stripers and even crappie. They say that top water is good early for whites, stripes, hybrids. Thanks for sharing and will post any successful catches.

That lake can be tough. I would recommend a guide. I fish it every year when I go up for the family reunion. Caught lots of crappie, LM & SM Bass, and Walleye but never saw a striper. Every time I went to the areas where the guides said they were catching them. I also never marked anything I would say was stripers on the depth finder.

If you have never been to that lake better get your gear ready for some gin clear water. The water in that lake is extremely clear.

My wife and I went last summer. Beautiful area. She pulled in a 22 pound striper. We used a guide but I would not recommend him. We trolled with huge gizzard shad. Only fish caught the whole trip but obviously made the trip worth it!

I haven't fished Beaver, but I sure want to. I think I'm going up to Ouachita on Thursday of this week and staying until Monday or Tuesday. I'll be by myself for most of that time.

Anyone up that way, look for the black/white Key West w/t-top

Just a FYI there has been a consumption band in effect since August of 2014 on Quachita. Mercury run off problem...

Thanks.

Edit:
I just researched this a little and found that it is not a ban but an advisory. About the same thing as most pelagic offshore fish in Texas coastal waters.

Call it what you want, just stating what I was told by a park ranger when I was there last November. They were handing out flyers and posting signs at the ramps. I have been fishing Quachita a long time and this has never occurred before. The fish have mercury in them according to the state health department, enjoy....

Ok, Allen. Thanks again. I'm not eating fish anyway. Just enjoying the possibility of catching a good one. And I love that lake.

To spudmaster88; sorry to derail your post. If I could get just a few more days off, Ild be up at Beaver. I may go anyway after this weekend.

Keep us posted.

Thanks, Captjohn

I'll be in the area at Withrow Springs Park 10/4 - 10/7 with kayaks and fly gear. Perhaps a day or two on Beaver Lake and/or the white River.
