The Ray Hubbard Bass Club held our eighth members only tournament of the year last Saturday September 12th on Cypress Springs Lake. For the first time in months, we got a calm cool morning with low humidity. The blessed summer cold front! It dropped temperatures in to the comfortable zone. The RHBC responded by showing up in numbers. 35 boats came out to fish and the fishing was good for most. 25 of 35 boats weighed in limits! When all was said and done Chris Atkinson and myself weighed in 5 fish for 18.73 pounds to take home the gold. Here are full results and pictures.

As always it seems, Eric Vidal and his 81 year young Dad, Bart were manning the scales. They and our other team of TD's Vince Burt and Mark Werner have done a fantastic job all year managing the number of boats that have been turning out in 2015. Dennis Machost is getting ready to weigh in.

The weigh in line starts to grow. With most teams catching fish, there was plenty of work to do.

Bart has excellent writing which makes it easy to figure out who gets paid at the end of the day. smile

Here are Eric and Bart weighing in their limit of spotted bass. Spots can be a big player at Cypress

Family plays a large role with the RHBC. Here are three generations of Garrett's at the weigh in.

Tyler and Ed Ham weighed 3 for 5.75

I'm unloading what we were hoping would be a winning bag of fish.

Roddy Bieber and John Bruner only weighed two, but they weighed a stout 6.82

Doug Hauessler and Dan Margules weighed 5 that went 7.67. Here's Dan with two of them.

Tony Climer fishing with his son Tony Jr. had a limit that weighed 9.03

Paul Spann and partner Johnny Woolard weighed 5 for 10.19. There were a lot of 10 and 11 pound bags weighed in Saturday!

Matt Prior fished with Richard Cisneros and had 5 for 10.58

James Weir and Jason Hadley continued an excellent first year with the Club. They just missed a top ten finish with 5 for 10.99

Vince Burt and Mark Werner are everything that is good about this Club. Volunteers for many years and friendly and helpful to everyone and always ready to laugh. Here they are with 5 for 12.64. Good for first out of the money...

Finishing sixth with 5 for 13.33 were last months winners on Holbrook, Preston Smith and David Horton

Finishing fifth with 5 fish for 13.59 that included a 5.35 beast were Russell Olds and Matt Jackson. Thanks to Russell for hosting the barbecue at their place on Friday night!

Finishing fourth were the coolest kids in school. Jack and Fly Scheel had 5 for 14.54 that included a 5.32. No spotted bass Jack! grin

For the last two years this has been the team to beat. Leading the AOY again this year are Jason Hunnicutt and Travis Reaves. They had 5 for 15.72 and finished third.

Speaking of the one to beat, Ronnie Manning is always tough to beat on his home lake of Cypress. He and Rick Clark finished second with 5 for 17.03 that included second place big bass of 5.61

Big bass of the event went to my partner Chris Atkinson. He caught this 7.29 toad with 30 minutes left in the day. It was a happy ride back to the ramp.

Here are the winners. First place with 5 for 18.73 were Chris Atkinson and myself. After 7 years in this great Club and a lot of close calls, I finally got one. Feels pretty good. A huge thanks to Chris for a great day on the water!

Thanks to all 35 teams for coming out! Thanks to the Officers that do such a great job. Our last regular season tournament is on Saturday October 10th at Lake Pat Mayse. If you need one more tournament to qualify for the Championship in November, it's last chance saloon. See you there!

Wtg Tom! Chris seems to be a lil' bit of an upgrade from David Mulkey! I hope it can't sell cars too or poor ole' David might be in some real trouble. Nice job Chris and congrats on the big fish.

That was Chris's spot and he's holding a couple of mine. Fun day on the water! Evan, I hear we will see you at Pat Mayse? Looking forward to that!
