I am a weekend fisherman and am looking to update the HB 788c on the console and a HB 728 on the bow that came on my Skeeter. My thoughts are to get something bigger and better with SI/DI on the console and possibly move the 788c to the bow.

1.) In light of the amount of time I fish what is worth the money for the console ... Onix10, 1199, Helix 10 or Helix 12 or something else? What are the differences between the Onix and Helix series?
2.) Does it make sense to put the 788c up front?
3.) I live in Dallas and my boat is at Sandlin ... suggestions on where to get it installed?
Thanks for your help and advice! smile

First......welcome to the TFF. welcome

I just upgraded to the Onix and they are great units. A lot depends on your budget. The Onix is going to be the most expensive. The core units like the 1100 series are gradually being fazed out. The Helix is the latest "more economical" units from Hummingbird. I've never seen one, so I can't compare it to the Onix, but they seem be getting good reviews.

You can save some $$ by going with the non-touch Onix. I got the Onix 10 touch for the console and a non-touch 8 for the bow. If I had it to do over again I would get both non-touch units.

Which ever you decide on, go with the largest screen you can afford.

R&R Marine in Pittsburg or Sartin Marine in Yantis would be good for install.

The upgrade will depend on the budget. The 7, 8, 9 and 1100 series are all discontinued as of this year and going to a Helix 7, 8, 9 and 11. Price point will less.

The 800, 900 and 1100 series are being discontinued at the present time and are being replaced with the New Helix 9" 10" and 12" series. They will be available early February 2016. They will have all the bells and whistles we have come to love in the current core models with a smidgen of Onix included. I do not yet have the full description to disclose but will be sharing once I do...

Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions. I would be happy to discuss your options with you direct.

My recommendation is waiting and get in on the new....
