I just mentioned this on another subject post but thought some people would miss it buried in a different topic, so here it is: a manual device that tilts a flexible "stick" into the down position to secure a position. I watched a few videos on the website and there is one where a man takes it out in a strong wind and it seems to work very well.

I like anything that can be done manually without the need to lug around a battery.

This might work well for many of our kayaks.

A novel flex stick anchor device

This is a nice setup for sure but I don't think I would pay 189.00 for it tho. I do know some people would buy it just not me, I'm cheap!

Novel idea but seems like much to do about nothing. I "manually" use my stake out stick already. Thanks for the update on a new item though OP

Pretty good idea, but it still leaves something hanging off the side of the kayak that will eventually be in the way and cause you to say a few choice words.
After several years of kayaking, I've learned to keep everything as simple as possible in order to keep from using those words! grin

Just one more cast!

Good points, all.

That is why if I get one I'd want it to be track-mounted so that it could be slid on and off depending on how I was fishing. No need to lug around a stake-out pole if you are deep water jigging or something.

And, I'd also want the option to slide the flex stick out of the ratchet device it rests in as yet another way to quickly rig a kayak up for a particular outing. I am not sure how this works so I'll have to ask if the mount can stay on and just the stick get removed.

But, if in addition to anchoring you, it also maintains your orientation as is stated in several of the videos, that is a big plus . . . no swinging around on a leash.

Too, I like how it lies flat so the end of the stick isn't in the way when it is deployed.

It has some positives I think. Agreed though that it is pricey keeping with the tradition of kayaks that all accessories made of plastic . . . are priced like gold.

The character in The Graduate who told the young Dustin Hoffman character that the future was in "plastics" must have been a prophet.

Hey! Does anyone here simply drop their stake-out poles down through a convenient scupper hole?

If there is any significant breeze or current, NO! It can stress the scupper to the point it cracks.

Not I, but then again I rarely use mine! Went through the trouble of making one out of PVC just to never use it! bang

Although many of us wouldn't pay for it, consider that many do pay for a ParkNPole ($80) or a Power-Pole ($600) ... I'd say $180 for this is priced right for the market.
