I took the boat out for the first time in a while. It took a while to get started but once it did it ran fine for a few min and died. It wouldn't start back up. I checked the gas buld and it was deflated. I primed it and it started up and ran fine for a min and the same thing. I took it back to the trailer and ran it on the trailer and when it started to die I pumped the bulb and it ran a little while longer. I assumed it was a bad primer bulb. I replaced it with OME parts (gas line, bulb, connection to the moter). Took it home and the same thing started happing when I ran it with the flush muffs. Any ideas? The boat is a 98 skeeter with a 115 yamaha. Should I replace the internal gas line? (Line from the tank to the exterior connection) Help... I'm stumped.

Does the tank have a vent that you can open or a stopped up vent hose?

I'm not sure about a vent or vent hose. Are any of the three hoses attached to the gas tank what I'm looking for?

Top is sending unit and pick-up. To the right is the fill hose and smaller one is the vent hose. I'd unclamp the smaller hose on the right and blow out whatever is blocking it, if anything.

Your not getting fuel for some reason.

You already replaced the line and bulb, so probably not your culprit. If it primes up fine its probably not the fuel pickup. If the vent is clear I would suspect your fuel pump.

Manual fuel pump diaphragms or I have seen the screws that hold the pump get loose.

Update. Ok guys, the vent hose was clear. I then looked at the fuel filter and noticed that it was very loose. I also noticed that the orange o-ring in the fuel filter stays at the bottom. Is this a problem? I will send a pic to follow post.

Yeah. You can see in the picture the Orange ring located at the bottom of the clear bowl. Is that normal?

well it looks like the bowl is one piece and screws in at the top, if so I would unscrew it and see whats up, if that bottom is solid there should be no oring down there, should be a groove for it at the upper end that would be inside the housing.

The water indicator ring should not be on the bottom. It is normally held up part way by the fuel filter plastic base. Was installed wrong. May have wrong filter. Easy for that ring to fall down before you get the fuel filter pushed down to spread the arms that hold the ring.--------------------------------------------

I took my filter to an authorized skeeter dealer and they said the water indicator ring stays at the bottom of the filter unless water enters the filter . At the point the Orange ring floats indicating there is water present.
