Man I'm glad I live in a rural county with a lot of common sense.
I took mine in the lady at the tax office said what does the trailer weigh, I told her 1400 lbs and she said no problem. Took 5 minutes and no inspection. Lucky you! She told you wrong. It's not what the trailer weighs, it the trailers gross vehicle weight rating. (how much load it's rated to carry).
Snowflakes and entitled brats will be the doom of America!

The tax assessor/collector is an elected public official. I would go around the staff and schedule an appointment directly with them to discuss the law and the actual requirements. They are paid employees of the county and NOT elected
