What is the best campground with deep enough fishable water? We ar going down in a couple of weeks and know most are shallow at the campground. Thank you for the tips.

There are several camps located on river road below Canyon Dam that have plenty of deeper water to fish, and with school back in session and not many tubers you should have the river to yourself. You can also fish Lake Dunlap and launch under the I35 bridge which is a free launch and just a short drive from the camps on river road. Do a search of River Road New Braunfels Texas, and you will see all the camps listed. You can also give the Gristmill restaurant in Gruene on the river a try if you have your family with you, and there are plenty of shops to spend the day there.

I haven't been in years but there is a private campground right below McQeeney Dam on Lake Placid (both are right below Dunlap mentioned above). It was called Blumberg Camp and is absolutely incredible. They were talking about selling the place last time I was there but you can give it a try...call them at... 830-822-7078. If they are still around and open you won't regret it. Great fishing and a wonderful campground with a convenience store right up the street. Good luck on your trip wherever you end up.

Rio Camp grounds and Mountain Breeze are both super, clean camps with good river space. Both even have cabins to rent. Both camps are located on River Road just outside of Sattler. Jim also gave some good advice on Lake Dunlap! Great place to fish this time of year.
