How is Marine Creek for bass fishing? I've never been but heard good things about it. Just wanting some opinions and some tips if you'd like to share banana

If you've heard good things then you need to talk to more people. It's terrible

Jaguar6,

Marine Creek is a good place to go if you want to experiment a bit with new tackle and rigs, get out of the house, that sort of thing. It would be for short drives only, a convenience lake trip. If it takes you too long to get there, invest your time driving to a better fishery.

The lake does have a few very large fish (at least 2 were caught this year) related to a stocking program; but, in general, what I have noticed is the typical bass caught out there look almost malnourished: usually thin bellied and a pale color. These are of the 12" variety, less than a pound often . . . a common size to catch out there.

I have never seen much in the way of baitfish on the lake so I am supposing bass live off a fairly nice population of bluegills and other sunfish most of the time. That is fine for really large fish, maybe an issue for smaller ones.

What works best for me is a drop shot or a weightless worm. Fish slow.

Over summers and on weekends, expect some power boats on this small lake stirring the water.

Not a bad place to canoe or kayak, just stay near the banks and away from swimmers/boats to find some what are usually "small" bass.

Last time I was out there, tney were working on the boat ramp off the service road so keep that in mind.

Brad

Last time I went I caught some decent ones (16-18") on a white buzzbait early. And then once that bite stopped flipping and pitching the grass with a texas rig craw produced a few smaller ones. Plenty of ways to catch them out there just dont expect alot of size.

Not sure that rule is still in effect. Haven't seen any signs saying that lately.

yeah Im 100% certain that is not an accurate statement. I went about a month ago and there were Bass boats running WOT all over the lake (except no wake zones of course).

Ok, so has the grass came back yet, last time I was there there wasn't any. Are the reeds holding bass pretty good?

This must be a new rule or something then because literally every time I have gone bass boats have been flying all over the lake and no one that I have seen has ever gotten a ticket from anybody. I have also never seen a sign by either ramp. Last tiem I went they were doing construction by the ramp by the college and were using the old ramp on the other side of the lake. Not arguing with you just saying I have never seen or heard of this out there.

I have been on that lake, run WOT, saw others doing the same. Agree, this has to be something new and if so, they sure need to post signs all over the lake!
Doesn't make sense, you have to be wary of skiers when they are on the lake and give them right of way, that makes sense but, to make it a no wake lake is not right.
I guess next it will be TM or hand power oar(s) only ????
God Bless
