That's Crazy! I never have seen that many hummingbirds at a feeder.

I have a pretty good sized flock still hanging around my feeders. I think that the initial peak of the migration has moved on. Had 30 to 40 hanging around for a couple of weeks. Now down to about 20. Went through about 25 pounds of sugar for my 5 feeders per week for a while.

Second wave of hummers are coming through now. Have gone back up big time in numbers. They will likely all be gone by mid-October.

We have three feeders out front. There are 4-6 different hummingbirds that are visiting them. They will not feed at one feeder at the same time. They are very defensive and if one is at or sitting near one of the feeders it will chase any others away that approach.

Time to clean and store ? Leave them up for a while , they need all the energy they can get for the flight south . Keeping feeders out won't make them stay . When they're ready to go they'll leave .
