Is there any reason you can't use a quality motor oil such as Mobile 1 in a four stroke.

I would red what specifications the motor manufacturer calls for and find an oil that meets those specs.
My guess is there is nothing wrong with using Mobile 1. Talked to several people that use Conventional Quackerstate in theirs with no issues.

No reason, that is exactly what I put in all 4 strokes. Mobile 1 just get the correct viscosity.

I use 10-30 now. Would that be the same in Mobile 1?

If I left my boat on the coast where it was really humid I would definitely use an actual FC-W rated oil designed for 4-stroke outboards. Not sure it has any better qualities than Mobil 1 auto oil but just for a piece of mind. Everything seems to rust down there. Keep in mind they also make synthetic FC-W rated oils as well though very expensive. But I don't so I don't
