I'm getting reports of dead fish and "aeresol" smell and difficulty breathing near the Packery and Bob Hall Pier yesterday. Anybody else seeing the same thing? The same reporter didn't see any red tide today, but others have chimed in with an aersol smell observation.

I'm sweating about this. I leave for my annual 11 day trip next Tuesday and this whole thing has me very nervous. How might this affect the fishing?

I found dead fish in the park on North Padre, around Malaquite beach and further south. Can't say about Packery. I have been fishing mostly around Access 2, and no dead fish here, but the algae is. Haven't seen the color change but my bride and I and everyone else is coughing...

Fishing has been good in the AM on the beach, evenings the tide and wind are up. Haven't fished the jetties or bay so I can't help. If I were you I wouldn't think twice about heading this way, you should be just about right fer some good fishing.

Jig Man-Thank you. I've been worried that this red tide event will ruin my annual trip. I've put countless hours and dollars into this one, and I have had very high expectations for success. I really hope the fish I have been scouting for so long are where I expect them to be. It's been advised to me that Redfish Bay, Copano Bay, and Goose Island State Park should all be good, and I would rather that be more of a backup plan rather than my primary plan of hitting the Port A South Jetty, Horace Caldwell and Bob Hall Pier, and the Brown & Root flats and the Lighthouse lakes area. I was hoping to just freeline a mullet everywhere I went and limit on reds daily. Thanks for the optimism brother!

I'm staying about a mile south of Packery near the beach. My wife and I walked on the beach yesterday evening and saw about 30 or so dead fish, mostly Mullet and small Gafftops. Our noses were burning and running for two hours afterward.

Thanks TS and Rgrizz. I've heard that game fish are still present despite the tide. Thanks to everyone for their reports. It's greatly appreciated.

As of yesterday afternoon, it was at the PINS 10MM and headed south at about 10 miles per day. SPI should be fine for a few more days, hopefully much longer.

Update on the Packery Channel area:
We have seen more dead fish each day since Tuesday. Today they are everywhere and we saw a lot of dead flounder and trout. Fishing was also worse today than any other day.
